The value of the consultation is in the time and detail of the assessment that I undertake with patients. The time spent considering the requirements of the patient and the attention to fine details in the preoperative planning are all part of the information I gather. 

I also have a very detailed discussion of the risks and benefits of the different kinds of interventions that are available to my patients. On some occasions, I recommend that a patient does not undergo any intervention at all…
