BRING YOUR EYES BACK TO LIFE

What you need to know about getting multifocal piggyback lenses in Wales

Don’t accept less

Cataract surgery was a great improvement, but your vision is still not quite right at both close and near distances. Other patients don’t need to wear glasses after their cataract surgery, so why should you?

You’ve overcome the cloudiness of cataracts and deserve the sharp focus to go with it.

Feel fantastic

You no longer feel annoyed, anxious or limited by reading glasses or varifocal spectacles. You’re liberated from squinting and headaches, and this has lifted your mood and general well-being.

You never thought you’d see the day where you could leave the house without your glasses. Throwing yourself into old and new hobbies is a real delight.

PIGGYBACK LENSES EXPLAINED

In these toggles we explain what you need to know about piggyback lenses

A Piggyback, or Add-On lens can help you to function without glasses and is a fantastic treatment if you still need to use glasses after your cataract surgery to:

  • Read
  • Drive
  • Use the computer
  • Watch television
  • See clearly in the distance
  • All of the above

The Piggyback intraocular lens is implanted behind the iris (the coloured part of the eye). The space in between the iris and the lens is called the ‘sulcus’ and it can accommodate a thin lens implant.

There are different types of Piggyback, or ‘Add-On’, lens implants:

  • A Monofocal Piggyback Lens corrects your distance spectacle prescription.
  • A Multifocal Piggyback Lens gives better reading vision without needing glasses and can correct a distance spectacle prescription at the same time, if needed.
  • A Toric Piggyback Lens corrects astigmatism as well as distance and near vision, and is available for both monofocal and multifocal lenses.

Here is a short video to explain:

Piggyback lenses are able to correct distance and near vision without the need for glasses, and have the advantage of being reversible.

The surgery is fast and safe, usually taking less than 10 minutes.

Piggyback lens implant surgery is very safe and produces excellent results in the majority of patients.

Potential risks include inflammation or raised pressure in the eye, and halos or glare in the case of a multifocal piggyback lens.

Options for Piggyback lens implants include monofocal lens to improve distance vision, or multifocal lens for improved distance and near vision without glasses.

Both types of Piggyback lens are available in a toric version to treat astigmatism at the same time as treating the underlying spectacle prescription.

The alternative to receiving a Piggyback lens implant is to continue with glasses to achieve best vision, or to consider a laser refractive operation such as SMILE or LASIK.

The results of Piggyback lens implant surgery are excellent, with the great majority of patients achieving the desired outcomes and reducing their reliance on glasses to a very great extent.

Be free from reading specs for good. Experience the liberation from squinting and headaches that you might have already begun to accept as part of life.

Instead, look forward to enjoying everything that your vision has to offer. Whether you enjoy reading, gardening, or the great outdoors, everything looks better when your eyes see as young as you feel.

Get a new lease on life. Contact us today and take the first step towards a better life.

Your vision is yellowing, duller, and cataracts are forming. You feel like your eyes are letting you down

The effect on your life can vary from being slightly frustrating, through to significantly affecting your ability to function independently, or even causing a devastating reduction in vision.

Before you developed cataracts, you were living a full life. You may enjoy the outdoors, have indoor hobbies or enjoy travelling. Or, perhaps you have finished working and are now taking the time to enjoy everything you may have missed when you were busy making a living.

Sadly, your eyes now dull the shine of life’s beautiful landscape. The trees, the flowers and even the sky don’t seem as bright as they used to look.

Get your life back without the compromise. Experience what life used to look like. Even better, if you’ve worn glasses or contact lenses, discover the incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that modern cataract surgery affords.
